மைக்ரோசொப்ட் நிறுவனம் மெட்ரோ பயனர் இடைமுகத்துடன் அறிமுகப்படுத்தியிருந்த Windows 8 இயங்குதளமானது தற்போது 200 மில்லியன் கொப்பிகள் விற்பனையாகியுள்ளன. விண்டோஸ் 7 இயங்குதள விற்பனையை விடவும் மந்தமான வேகத்திலேயே விற்பனை இடம்பெற்ற போதிலும் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்ட முதல் 6 மாதங்களில் 100 மில்லியன் கொப்பிகளையும், அதன் பின்னரான 6 மாதங்களில் 100 மில்லியன் கொப்பிகளையும் விற்பனை செய்துள்ளது. எனினும் விண்டோஸ் 7 இயங்குதளமானது ஒரு வருட காலப்பகுதியில் 240 மில்லியன் கொப்பிகள் விற்பனையாகியிருந்தமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இதேவேளை தற்போது எதிர்வரும் 2015ம் ஆண்டில் அறிமுகம் செய்வதற்காக விண்டோஸ் 9 இயங்குதள வடிவமைப்பில் மைக்ரோசொப்ட் நிறுவனம் மும்முரமாக ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றது. Sales of Windows 8 have been slower than Windows 7, it took Microsoft just one year to sells 240 million copies of Windows 7, whilst it took the company over a years to sell 200 million copies of Windows 8. Sales of Windows 8 after slower than that of Windows 7, this is apparently due to the slowdown in the PC market, and Microsoft’s tablets, which also come with Windows 8 have not been successful as the company had hoped. It will be interesting to see how Windows 8 does over the next 12 months, Microsoft is working on Windows 9 at the moment, and this is rumored to launch in April of 2015.
